Is there a region of the country where the retirement rankings are surprising?

Middle America has long been seen by those who live there as a great place to retire and WealthHub’s retirement rankings back that up, with eight of the top 15 states to retire in the Plains or Rust Belt areas of the country. None of the five worst states to retire in are in the Midwest, as well, although North Dakota placed in the bottom 10, at #44.
